Ecological wonders at a stone’s throw: Hoces del Duratón from Las Casitas de Cerezo
Discover one of the most impressive corners of Segovia: the Hoces del Río Duratón Natural Park. This imposing canyon – sculpted by centuries of erosion in limestone rock – stretches between Sepúlveda and Burgomillodo, creating a landscape of deep meanders, walls of up to 100 metres high and one of the largest European colonies of griffon vultures.
From Las Casitas de Cerezo, located in Cerezo de Abajo, getting to Las Hoces is very easy and takes approximately 40 minutes by car. This rural enclave is the ideal starting point to enjoy a variety of activities such as hiking, canoeing and bird watching in its natural environment. Follow the well-known Senda de los Dos Ríos (Two Rivers Path) or take circular routes that allow you to see emblematic viewpoints, such as the San Frutos hermitage, located on a rocky spur that offers spectacular views of the canyon.
In addition to its natural heritage, this area also treasures fascinating historical remains, such as cave engravings, the Romanesque chapel of San Frutos and the monastery of Nuestra Señora de la Hoz, which can only be reached by boat after the construction of the reservoir. The calm waters of the Duratón are perfect for admiring the majesty of the griffon vultures gliding over the gorges, a unique and unforgettable experience.
From Las Casitas de Cerezo, you will not only have a cosy refuge with Segovian charm, but also an open door to adventures in the heart of nature. A getaway that combines relaxation with discovery, the perfect environment to connect with the authentic.
